My Guitar; old buddy, old pal. Oh, and cotillion. [8:23 PM]
I went to the mall today! Got two cds and a shirt. Both cds were John Mayer cds, lol. I think I might have a mancrush. But before you read that in a ridiculously homo way, urbandictionary the word mancrush. Seriously, the music this man makes is amazing. I bought 'Room For Squares' and 'Continuum'. They're actually pretty old albums, but I never used to listen to his music so when the opportunity came I had to grab it. It's amazing what a single acoustic guitar can do you to your opinions of good music. I mean, before I got this guitar of mine the only songs that I listened to with any actual instruments were songs by Gabe Bondoc and Passion. Those two are awesome, personally I like Gabe Bondoc more than Passion. Go to my youtube account, listen to 'Dorm Room' by Gabe Bondoc (It's an original song by him, and it's favorited) and tell me that song isn't awesome. Go ahead, I dare you. Anyway, as I was saying, there were NO songs with real instruments on my iPod before I got this guitar. I got so much of a deeper appreciation for music through this guitar, it's insane. I still listen to the songs that I used to, awesome songs like 'Homecoming' by Kanye West, 'Sexy Love' by Ne-Yo, 'Go' by Common... songs like that, of that genre. But over this year, I've learned to love totally different songs, and it's really cool. Check out the combination of artists that I've grown to love over the 10 months that I've had this guitar:
John Mayer, Drake, Kanye West, Eminem,
James Morrison,
Jason Mraz,
Britney Spears,
Coldplay,
Dashboard Confessional, Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, T-Pain, John Legend,
Maroon 5,
My American Heart &
Taylor Swift. Honestly, that girl is amazing. I've gone from listening to Rap, Hip-Hop and R&B to Rap, Hip-Hop, R&B, Rock, Alternative, Blues, Pop and Country. I even occasionaly find myself listening to classical music. I don't know if it's just my ears maturing or something, but I think it's my guitar. Old buddy, old pal; you done good. Real good.I went to cotillion practice today. Let me start by explaining what a cotillion is. It's pretty much a debutants entourage, we're like her crack team of specialists that's shes especially chosen because we're awesome and she loves us. Now let me tell you what a debutant is; it's a girl who's celebrating her debut. Now, a debut. Well, a filipino debut. They're much different from a regular debut. I don't know what a regular one is, but a filipino one marks a filipino girl's coming of age. She has one on her 18th birthday, and there's a huge party and a performance by her cotillion. That's us, and by us I mean me and the rest of the cotillion. There are 8 pairs, and the debutant and her escort make 9. So yeah, we meet every Wednesday and practice dances. We've had maybe 3 practices now? And in this time we've learned, and I say learned loosely, how to do the Waltz and the Cha-Cha. Both are alright, I guess. The people are cool, I've never met a majority of them before these practices. I hit a girl in the head today, totally by accident. Well, she ran into my elbow as she was coming back up from a dip. I said sorry though, and she didn't seem hurt lol. So that's good.
Anyway, that's about it for today. Thanks for reading.
